Planned future micro-credentials may include transcriptomics/RNA-seq, genome assembly, phylogeny, Linux for bioinformatics, statistical analysis in R, workflow automation, Nextflow and containerisation, and AI-assisted bioinformatics workflows.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need coding experience?

No. The program is beginner-friendly and designed for researchers with little or no prior bioinformatics or coding experience.

Can I analyse my own data?

Yes. Participants are encouraged to apply workflows to their own microbiome datasets where appropriate and relate workshop concepts to their research questions.

Will I receive a certificate?

Participants who complete the program requirements receive a Certificate of Completion.

Who is this micro-credential designed for?

The program is designed for HDR students, Honours and Masters students, early-career researchers, laboratory scientists and researchers beginning microbiome analysis.

What software will we use?

Participants are introduced to commonly used microbiome analysis tools including QIIME2, DADA2, R, ggplot2, Phyloseq, Kraken2 and HUMAnN3.
